Disneyland Paris, or as previously known Euro Disney Resort, is one of the most famous theme parks in the world. It is located 20 miles East of Paris city centre.
The easiest way to get to Disneyland Paris from the city centre is to take one of regional trains called RER (Regional Express Network).
The line RER A ends at Marne-la-Vallé, a station located near the rear doors of Disney Village and the theme park.
The journey itself isn’t too long – it lasts around 40 minutes – and each morning trains are full of families who travel from Paris to Disneyland – you are not going to lose your bearings: simply follow the crowd of families inside the train station!
Other ways to get to Disneyland
There are other viable alternatives to get to the park for travellers departing from Paris who don’t want to get on a RER train. For instance, you can choose to get on a tourist bus or a shuttle bus offered by a hotel located in Paris.
RER trains are operated by RATP (Regie Autonome des Transports Parisiens) and they manage the transport system in the city. This means that trains, the underground and buses are integrated and share the same ticketing system. This makes your transfers within the city quite easy: you can purchase all tickets you need to get to the park at the same station.
Trains leaving from Disneyland depart every 15 minutes from 5:30 am to midnight. Please keep in mind that this timetable might be different on weekends.
Chatelet, Auber and Etoile are stations you need to pay attention to, as here is where most transfers take place to get to the park from the city centre.
Tickets
You can also purchase your tickets at a ticket office or a ticket machine that you will find in any underground and RER station (you can both use cash and credit cards). If applicable, here you can top up your transport card.
Some ticket machines, like those you find at Charles de Gaulle Airport, have trained staff members to help foreign travellers directed towards the park.
As for the underground system, Paris uses a zonal system with 6 circular fare zones starting from the city centre. Zone 1 is where most hotels and city centre attractions are located. In fact, most Paris underground stations are located in zone 1 and 2.
Disneyland station (Marne-la-Valée) is located in zone 5.
All different fare zones are clearly indicated on the RER map.
When you buy a single ticket, the cost will depend on where you are departing from and your destination.
As a point of reference, a single ticket from Paris city centre to Disneyland costs around € 7,60.
If you are planning to do some sightseeing around the city, as many visitors do, it might be worth it to get one of the many travel passes available that allow you to use all trains and buses of a specific zone in Paris. There are many different kinds of passes and tickets different from single tickets.
Leaving from London
For those leaving from London, you can easily reach the park by train. If you leave from London St-Pancras with an Eurostar train, you can get off at Marne-La-Vallée Chessy (Disneyland Paris).
The journey is about 222 miles and you will reach your destination in less than 5 hours.
Disneyland Paris parks
There are two separate parks at Disneyland Paris: Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studio Park. Normally people tend to buy a ticket that covers both parks, but you can choose to get a ticket for only one of them.
They are next to each other and their entrances are located in front of the Walt Disney Village, a popular area full of shops and restaurants, next to the train and bus station.
There are different kinds of tickets and packages, that allow you to access the theme park for 1 to 5 days, for one park or both. There are 2 types of tickets: tickets valid for specific dates or flexible tickets. Generally speaking, the latter tend to be more expensive than the first ones.
You can get your tickets at the ticket office, often queuing for a long time. Therefore, we advise you to purchase the ticket in advance online. By doing so, you can both save money and time. When you get an online ticket, you can simply print an e-ticket at home before you start your trip. Come and discover what Disneyland Paris has to offer for you and your family!
